How to maintain good oral health

Step 1 : Detecting Oral Disease
"I am currently suffering from cavities and gum disease. I found out that I have gum disease when I visited the dentistry for my cavity. Since I was afraid of dental treatment, I came back home without the proper treatment after the dental scaling only. I didn’t feel any pain for about a month after the visit, but I started to feel the pain again. The pain on my gum tends to get worse if I don’t brush my teeth on time. Ryu’s gum is very sensitive now, which is a typical symptom of periodontal disease. It is critical to thoroughly remove plaque, the cause of periodontal disease.

Step 3 : Solution

Food residue between teeth and bacteria inside the mouth start to form plaque 2~3 hours after meals. Periodontal disease causes the damage of the tissue around the teeth due to bacteria inside the plaque. Plaque can be eliminated easily by brushing your teeth thoroughly. If your gum often bleeds when brushing teeth, you will need to check how you brush your teeth. Especially demarcation of tooth and gum must be brushed carefully. Accompanying dental floss or interdental toothbrush is recommended.

Periodontal disease is hard to detect in its early stage since there aren’t any particular symptoms. Swelling and pain start to appear just like Ryu’s when it passes its early stage, which requires professional treatment at the dental clinic.

Periodontal disease often progresses to the point where the complete recovery of damaged teeth and gum is difficult if you visit the clinic after experiencing the pain. Even slight periodontal disease shouldn’t be taken lightly because the infection from gum disease pathogens can aggravate diabetes, cardiovascular disease, preterm birth and stroke. Lack of vitamin C can also cause the oral inflammation, thus, it is important to intake enough vegetables and fruit.

It is approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) and is widely used in the U.S.

2. Conscious (Sleep) Sedation Treatment
At Hus’hu, we also have Sleep Sedation Treatment. It may be the greatest advancement ever made towards truly pain-free and anxiety-free dental procedures. Midazolam, the drug used during the procedure, makes you feel sleepy and drowsy, but you are still conscious so that you can follow our directions. As it is stated above, Midazolam does not make you unconscious, so it does not take too long for you to wake up. If you are put to sleep too deeply, Flunil will be given to wake you up immediately. The drugs that are used for Sleep Sedation Treatment are diluted and given to you very slowly so it can be easily adjusted to each patient’s needs and type. Also, it lowers the chances of side effects and rejections. We monitor your blood pressure, pulse, ECG and oxygen saturation very closely during the procedure for safety.

3. Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) - Power to control the pain

Patient-controlled analgesia is a method of allowing a person to manage the pain after surgery on their own. With PCA, you can control the amount of pain killer by pushing a button whenever you feel the pain. When the button is pushed, you get a small dose of narcotic analgesic through your IV so that you can control the pain as you wish to manage the pain after surgery on your own.

Korean Thanksgiving Day!!

Time flies really fast and it's the show time!!
Korean Thanksgiving day, August 15th on lunar calendar, is one of two biggest holliday in Korea. As we were agarian society for long time on our history, we appreciate harvest every year for gods and our ancestors. Korean culture believes that August 15th is the right time to appreciate that. On Thanksgiving Day, all of our family and relatives are getting together and enjoy tasty foods with many enjoyable games. For those of you who are not familiar with Korean traditional culture, Hushu clinic wants to tell you a story about Thanksgiving Day.

Songpyeon is a Korean traditional rice cake. There are many kinds of Songpyeon depending on what's inside. Sesame, Honey, Beans, and adzuki beans. Sesame and beans have deep flavor and adults like them while kids like Songpyeon with honey and adzuki beans becuase of its sweetness. If you have not tasted Songpyeon yet, try to buy one at grocery stores or rice cake stores to taste one. It is going to be great!

Have you seen Korean traditional ceremony for their ancestors? This is a regular ceremony for every family during Thanksgiving Day. We prepare sincere foods for ancestor to thank about harvest in this year. There is an order on the both ways, from top to bottom and from right to left. Every food has the right position to be on the table. Usually we prepare fruits, rice, soup, cookies, fish, and meats, but it could be little different depending on regions.

Sansou, a Korean traditional tomb of an ancestor, is another place to go during Korean Thanksgiving Day. We bring all foods which have not been used for Jaesa above, and set the table in front of a tomb. Then, we serve the ceremony which is similar with Jaesa. A long time ago, Sansou was usually located near by house. However, many people have came up to Seoul and only few people live near by their Sansou. So, there is always horrible traffic to get Sansou but this never bothers Korean anyway.

Seereum is a very fun game to watch during Korean Thanksgiving Day. Two men try to throw another man down each other. The game will be over very quickly and you can't tak your eyes from the screen during the game. On Thanksgiving Day, the Seereum will be on the T.V during afternoon. Enjoy!

A dentistry clinic uses a cancer-causing agent?

On Aug. 16th, MBC, a korean broadcasting, televised that U dentistry clinic uses a cancer-causing agent and people got shock from the report. 'PD Soocheob,' one of the most famous documentary program, caught that U dentistry clinic in Korea uses Bellium which may cause cancer for manufacturing a porcelain veneers.
U dentistry clinic usually require to manufacture a porcelain veneers quickly because there are always too many waiting patients. A meteral included Bellium reduces the manufacturing time significantly. That's why some dentistry clinics add Bellium into porcelain veneers. This porcelain uses not only laminate veneers, but also a tooth implant.
In addition, a patient who was diagnosed to need 9 teeth implant at U dentistry clinic had another diagnose at a university hospital and the result says that the patient needs only 2 tooth implant.
