In search of aforementioned big smile and still on crutches, I decided to boldly venture to the mean streets of Apgu and invited Groove Editor Tracey Stark to join me in my endeavor. We are, afterall, the ultimate culprits: Tracey loves red wine and I lovvve my Cappuccino (I’m on a first name basis with the Starbucks folks). The result? I feel self-conscious when I film and Tracey worries about the toll taken on his pearlies by years of savoring Provencal Rhone Reds. We decided we were in this together, and put our mouths in Hus-Hu’s hands.
We were greeted by the fabulous Jeeyoung Kim in the clinics upscale lobby, which could easily be mistaken for a posh cafe. Jeeyoung, whose porcelain skin speaks for itself, specialises in Customer service and acts as a liaison to all foreign clientele. She also provides online consultation, and is pleased to hand-tailor each client’s experience to be certain they meet their goals while feeling at home. Jeeyoung is the sort of rare individual who possesses a gift for anticipating a customer’s concerns and I immediately felt both relaxed and excited at the prospects of working with her. She treated us to complimentary Ginseng face masks after noting that we both suffered from seasonal dryness and offered a few words of wisdom. After preparing us some refreshments, including the best cappuccino I’d had in months (irony!), she proceeded to inform us of the options the clinic offers to help us on my way to a flashier smile .
While I’ve always harboured a fear of dentists, there is nothing ‘hospital-like’ about Hus-Hu. The lobby alone is a pleasure to relax in, complete with TV, free internet and a mini-bar for coffee and juice. I may just go there to wind down if stuck in Apgu for a few hours between jobs! Next, we met with Dr Im Hyung Gu, whose smile is as charming as his approach to his work and whose clients include some well-known celebs. He explained that we’d be undergoing a process called ‘in-office whitening”, which is perfect for a busy-bee like myself who tends to value time over sustenance and loves instant gratification. Dr Hu discussed the benefits of this 400 000won proceedure, which utilizes blue light and takes approximately 90 minutes from start to finish. This option seemed right for someone looking to go 2 shades whiter and the price tag is more than reasonable considering I can look forward to 3-6 months of dazzling people with my chompers

The procedure was painless but I was given a ‘panic button’ in the event I had any concerns.30 minutes later, I was staring at my new and much improved smile and Tracey and I fought over the mirror as we compared our results.
The verdict? For anyone in Seoul with a skin or dental concern, Hus-Hu appears to be a mecca for affordable beauty and superb service in Seoul. I recommend giving Jeeyoung an email with your questions or dropping by (it’s easy to find outside Apgujeong station exit 3). To email Jeeyoung: international@hus-hu.com
