#1Editor's experience at the Hus-Hu Dental Clinic My face had become very asymmetric because of chewing only on one side of my mouth and unconsciously bracing my jaw when sleeping. At the recommendation of a friend, Ellen, I met the dentist of the Hus-Hu Dental Clinic. Most people go to a plastic surgeon in such a case, but Ellen recommended a dentist because my problem ultimately concerned the teeth. Needless to say, dentistry is far less traumatic in this kind of case than plastic surgery, but can a dentist really fix my problem?
» Consultation and treatment The dentist, Dr. Kwon Hyuk-jin, recommended prompt treatment. He said that overly developed muscles make the contour look stronger and make the person lose confidence about appearance, and that continued neglect of teeth grinding and malocclusion can cause damage to teeth and indigestion. His recommendation was a botox injection, a simple and affordable treatment. Botox is injected into the jaw muscles to block delivery of neurotransmitters that move muscles and to reduce their strength. The effect is apparent after only one to three months after injection. A ‘night guard’ can be tailor-made to prevent teeth grinding during sleep; protect teeth, gums, and jaw muscles; and rest the jaw joints to help mitigate their pain. Only one injection of botox can solve the problem, and it takes only 20 minutes from consultation to completion of procedure. Immediate return to daily life is possible and night guards can be shipped to overseas addresses.
» Process Take an x-ray of the teeth → Consult the doctor while examining the x-ray → inject botox at the exact location of jaw joints.
#2Editor's experience at the Hus-Hu Skin Clinic Dr. Chang Seung-ho, the dermatologist of the clinic, recommended a filler injection to eliminate the wrinkles around my lips, which are a result of my face asymmetry. It is not a surgical procedure, but it does involve local anesthesia and injection, and as such, it is ideal for people who are afraid of or do not have time for full surgery.
» Consultation and treatment In addition to easily removing the wrinkles around the lips, fillers are used for various purposes, making this an extremely popular procedure. They fill deep furrows that cannot be smoothed out by botox; raise the nose; correct the underjaw that is inward and short; make the lips full; fill in the sunken areas under the eyes, forehead, and cheeks; and many other such things. They correct the sagging or angulated face line to make the face more threedimensional, tighter, and resilient. After applying anesthesia, it takes only five to ten minutes to inject a filler after applying an anesthesia ointment or a simple PCA (patient controlled analgesia) injection, and the injection leaves no swelling or bruise.
» Process Consult the doctor about your problem → Mark the area to be injected with the filler → Sanitize the area or inject anesthetic if necessary → Inject the filler
